Week 1 Lines |
Pre-Assessment
Pre-assessment of students’ knowledge of lines gathered on Day 1 through teacher’s observations and questioning and from student’s contributions in class discussion and participation. |
Post-Assessment
Formative assessment of completed projects containing three or more types of lines. |
Week 2
Colors |
Through discussion and questions the teacher will pre-assess student knowledge of colors.

Creating the Leo Lionni mice and putting them in order of the color will will serve as the formative assessment.

Week 3
Shapes |
Ask questions about the shapes in Circus Shapes by Stuart J. Murphy or around the room to assess prior knowledge

As a post assessment do an informal observation if the students are using the vocabulary taught to them. On a sheet of paper with the students name on it tally how often they use the vocabulary and if it is used correctly for each student.

Week 4
Texture |
Discuss the definition of the word texture. Ask what kinds of textures students know about or can identify in the room.

- Teacher equipped with small speaker when reading books or giving instructions
- Utilizing walker for stabilization and support
- Large crayons/markers
- Easy grip and table top scissors available
- Masking tape to hold projects to the table
- Large grips on small paintbrushes
- Substitute blocks for legos
- Allow sufficient space
- Pre-cut shapes
